Purposes of the Foundation
|
future is thankful for your interest Belarus, a republic of 10 million people at the northern border of Ukraine, was severely battered in World War II, when 25% of households suffered a family loss. The vitality and health of this next generation, therefore, is extremely critical. The 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident has had a devastating and lasting effect on the population - especially children. Thyroid cancer has already increased over 200-fold and an estimated 20,000 more children will develop cancer in the near future.
The Foundation was founded exclusively to undertake and financially support activities designed to improve and enhance the health of children in Eastern and Central Europe, with a special concern for the children from Belarus. Current Foundation support in Belarus includes:

The Child Health International Foundation is a publicly funded, independent, non-profit charitable organization. The Foundation is supported through grants from private charitable organizations, government agencies and individuals dedicated to private foundations, corporations and individuals dedicated to the health of children.
