A Center for Pediatric Excellence - A priority Project of the Child Health International Foundation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The University Children's Medical Center will be the referral center for the Republic of Belarus and an international pediatric specialty center. It will be a model for pediatric excellence in Central Europe and will eliminate excess pediatric beds by consolidating fragmented and duplicated services into a facility which will also be the comprehensive training site for pediatric health professionals. The ambulatory care area, developed next to the in-patient building, will allow common use of support services, such as laboratories and radiology. Its organization will attract the Republic's most competent pediatric clinicians and teachers.
Contemporary laboratories and diagnostic imaging areas will provide highly specialized support in one centralized location available for in-patent and out-patlent service. A clinical research area will enhance the understanding of the biologic basis for clinical observanons or therapeutlc interventions.
